Safeties in hypnosis from Ophelia's blog

I've been getting some great answers to my question over on Reddit:

I'm very interested in the topic of hypnotic safeties in recreational hypnosis and I'm finding it hard to find information about this by googling. I would love to have a conversation about safeties and I've compiled a few questions I'm hoping will generate a bit of discussion that I can learn from.

What is your understanding of the term "safeties"?

What types of safeties are important for you to have? Which are essential?

Have there been situations you wished you'd had safeties for and if so, which do you wish you'd had?

For tists: what safeties do you like to give your subjects? How do you make your suggestions safe?

Dry running audio files is a good way to go. I personally will drop back to mainline if something bothers me within my limits, Others with less experience or of a less rebellious nature than myself may not. Obviously pre consultation, repoire, and built trust between tist and subject is best. If trust and responsibility are established much can be done for personal evolution and good plain fun.Dry running audio files is a good way to go. Come on Zoggie, there are really bad files around. Mine are a perfect example of that fact.

I am serious! I haven't managed to listen and not drop. Lol I think the only thing of yours I read was, rain. And that was all text. Lol.

Thanks for the insight slipperyone. I also tend to come out of trance if an audio file goes in a direction I don't like. With a tist I am more likely to go along, which is why I need to pick hypnotists with great care.

So as a hypnotist, I use a lot of safeties. I usually will give a suggestion to make sure that anything that the subject is uncomfortable with, they'll tell me right away. The GREEN, YELLOW, and RED suggestion is one I use a lot. It gives you a chance to check in with your subject and to make sure that things are going well. Doing online hypnosis opens an entire different set of safeties as well, meaning you need to prepare for connection issues and not being able to rely on some cues.So as a hypnotist, I use a lot of safeties.
